What benefits and services does Spectrum Diabetic provide to people with diabetes?
  • You pay nothing up front other than the usual deductible or co-payment required by Medicare or your private insurance. If you have supplemental insurance, you may owe nothing at all.
  • We ship your diabetes testing supplies directly to your home. There are no shipping charges if your order meets our $75.00 minimum or is covered by Medicare or private insurance.
  • We will contact your physician to have your Doctor's Order completed for you.
  • We will complete all Medicare and insurance claim forms for you. No waiting for reimbursement.
  • Our customer service department will contact you to remind you when to re-order your supplies so you never run out. Your order always arrives in time and on a regular schedule containing everything you need to manage your diabetes.
  • 100% satisfaction guaranteed. Read our Return Policy.
  • Spectrum Diabetic provides diabetes education and nutritional consultants to help you determine a care program specifically designed for you.
What coverage benefits does Medicare provide to people with diabetes?
Medicare will reimburse either 80% of the Medicare approved amount for the cost of diabetic supplies or 80% of the retail price, whichever is lower. This means that once your annual "part B" deductible is paid, you are only responsible for the remaining 20%. If you have supplemental or secondary insurance, you may owe nothing at all.

What are the Medicare guidelines for covering diabetic testing supplies?
  • Medicare requires you or your caregiver to authorize all refills of your diabetes testing supplies before they are delivered. You will never receive supplies you did not authorize.
  • We ship your diabetes testing supplies directly to your home. There are no shipping charges if your order meets our $75.00 minimum or is covered by Medicare or private insurance.
  • All Medicare enrolled suppliers (such as Spectrum Diabetic Services, LLC) must submit claims for diabetic testing supplies.
  • A Doctor's Order must be on file with the supplier (i.e., Spectrum Diabetic Services, LLC) before your order can be filled. It must be signed and dated by the treating doctor.
Will Medicare cover the cost of my diabetic supplies whether I am taking insulin or not?
Yes. If you have diabetes and are on Medicare you may be eligible to receive home delivery of diabetic supplies such as glucose testing meters, test strips, lancets, lancing devices and other items to help control your diabetes whether you take insulin or not.

Under what circumstances will Medicare cover additional supplies?
If your doctor recommends that you test more often than the guidelines allow for, he or she can authorize you to get more products that are reimbursed by Medicare. The prescription will need to authorize the number of times a day you should be testing, and the reasons why they recommend more testing. Spectrum Diabetic will contact your doctor and get the prescription for you with your authorization.

Who completes my Medicare or insurance claim forms?
Our customer service representatives will complete your claim forms. Spectrum Diabetic will handle billing Medicare and/or your supplemental insurance company.

Am I responsible for my deductible?
All customers are responsible for their annual insurance deductibles. All Medicare recipients have a $100.00 annual deductible that must be met before Medicare will pay any benefits. If any portion of your deductible is applied to supplies that Spectrum Diabetic sends to you, you are responsible for payment of that amount. If this should happen we will notify you in writing and invoice you for the amount after Medicare has charged the deductible to Spectrum Diabetic. We will never require up front payment of any deductible amount.

Does Spectrum Diabetic require a form from my doctor?
In order for Medicare or your insurance to pay benefits, Spectrum must have a physician's order on file. Our customer service representatives will make every effort to obtain the form from your doctor. Only if your physician does not respond to our requests would we then contact you to ask for your assistance. Doctor's Order

What is a Doctor's Order?
A Doctor's Order is similar to a prescription. It is a special form that your doctor must complete, sign, date and return to us. The Doctor's Order lists the diabetes supplies that your doctor says you need. It also contains some basic medical information, such as the number of times you are to be testing your blood glucose levels each day.

Spectrum Diabetic Services is a Durable Medical Equipment supplier and we bill under the medical benefits section of Medicare (Medicare Part B) and private insurance plans. Medicare and private insurance plans require that we have a valid Doctor's Order on file to show that you are eligible to receive diabetes testing supplies.

Spectrum Diabetic will contact your doctor to obtain a valid Doctor's Order on your behalf.

Will I have any out-of pocket expense?
No. However, you may be responsible for your co-payment and/or deductible, if they apply. If you have a qualified supplemental insurance program you may owe nothing at all.

Will I have to pay for shipping?
We provide FREE SHIPPING for most standard orders over $75.00 within the continental United States as well as for all Medicare and private insurance orders. Other charges may apply for bulk shipping and shipping to Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico. For orders below $75.00, you will be responsible for an $7.95 shipping charge per order.

How long will it take to receive my order?
Your order will arrive at your door in 2–4 business days. All orders ship within 24 hours of submission provided Spectrum Diabetic has a valid doctor's order on file and all of your paperwork is in order.

What forms of payment do you accept?
In addition to Medicare and private insurance, we accept American Express, Discover, Master Card, Visa and personal checks. Please note that if paying by check your order may be delayed until the funds have cleared the bank.

Does Spectrum Diabetic Services accept any HMO's?
Spectrum Diabetic is not currently participating in any HMO networks and are therefore unable to directly bill an HMO for customer orders.

Does Spectrum Diabetic accept Medicaid?
We can service most Medicaid programs within the United States. To find out if your diabetes testing supplies are covered by Medicaid call Spectrum Diabetic toll free at 1-866-458-4116, Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM Eastern Standard Time.
